I love making table runners and when I found the zig zag table runner tutorial from Missouri Star Quilts, I knew I had to try that one.  This was so much fun to make.  It’s made with 5 inch charm squares, batting and backing fabric.

The first thing you will need to do is to decide on your fabric.  Pick 5 fabrics that coordinate together and cut into 5 inch squares.  For this particular table runner, I used…

(starting from the middle)

  • 9  green plaid
  • 16 green
  • 18 red
  • 16 gold
  • 16 print

I was inspired by these particular fabrics by another table runner that I had seen on Pinterest.  I really like the combinations and how they looked put together.

Here’s the video tutorial from Missouri Star Quilt…

Zig Zag Table Runner

You can make this table runner as long and wide as you like.  I wanted mine to cover most of my table.

For the finishing touches, I topstitched it with a decorative stitch using a gold thread that would show really well.

I love how this zig zag table runner turned out!  I will definetely be using this pattern again for different occasions and themes.
